Two soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into a convoy of security forces in Dera Ismael Khan on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing ISPR, Naib Subedar Yasir Shakeel and Tahir Naveed, army jawan, lost their lives in the incident.

Giving further details, the ISPR said that 38-year-old Yasir Shakeel was a resident of Kohat, while 34-year-old Tahir Naveed was also a resident of Kohat.

It said that the security forces were committed to the eradication of terrorism. “The sacrifices given by our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve to take on terrorists,” the ISPR said in the statement, and vowed to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.

It may be mentioned here that a lieutenant colonel and a captain were among seven soldiers martyred in a terrorist attack in North Waziristan's Mir Ali about a week ago. At least six terrorists were also killed in the attack reported on last Saturday.

Security forces personnel foiled the initial attempt of intrusion into the army installation; however, a group of six terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into it, later carrying out multiple suicide bombings.

The attacks led to the collapse of a portion of the building, resulting in the martyrdom of five brave soldiers.

The martyred soldiers included Havildar Sabir, a resident of district Khyber; Naik Khurshid, a resident of district Lakki Marwat; Sepoy Nasir, a resident of Peshawar; Sepoy Raja, a resident of Kohat; and Sepoy Sajjad, a resident of Abbottabad.

During the ensuing clearance operation, the Pakistan army troops led by Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali, engaged and gunned down all the six terrorists. However, 39-year-old Lt Col Ali, a resident of Karachi, and 23-year-old Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar, a resident of Talagang, embraced martyrdom.

Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Army convoy in Dera Ismail Khan. He commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
