When dreams clash with love: Vijay Varma shares his truth

Acclaimed actor Vijay Varma is known for slipping effortlessly into intense, dark roles but off screen, his thoughts on love reveal a deeply emotional and romantic side. 

In a candid reflection, the actor opened up about how ambition can sometimes clash with matters of the heart, admitting that the two don’t always go hand in hand.

Celebrated for his gripping performances in Dahaad, Mirzapur, and Kaalkoot, Vijay surprised audiences last year by taking a refreshing turn with Gustaakh Ishq. 

Moving away from brooding intensity and morally complex characters, he embraced a softer, more romantic persona one that highlighted vulnerability and charm.

Reflecting on this transition, Vijay admitted it wasn’t an easy shift. He shared that for Gustaakh Ishq, he had to consciously let go of the emotional heaviness he had accumulated from portraying psychologically intense roles. 

The process, he explained, involved reconnecting with a sense of innocence and rediscovering the wide-eyed curiosity he once had during his early days as a student at the Film and Television Institute of India.

While Gustaakh Ishq may not have achieved major commercial success, it proved to be a significant milestone in showcasing Vijay’s versatility as an actor. Speaking about his personal outlook, he openly admitted to being a romantic at heart, saying that his softer side is already quite visible to fans online.

However, the actor didn’t shy away from addressing the reality many face balancing ambition and relationships. He noted that ambition can sometimes stand in the way of love, creating an internal conflict where career goals and emotional commitments compete. Despite this, Vijay revealed that he often finds himself choosing love over everything else.

Describing himself as highly sensitive, he added that his ability to feel deeply is something he cannot switch off and perhaps, that very trait is what drew him to acting in the first place.
