Another set back to India as Shakira cancels show, fans devastated after 19 years
Global pop superstar Shakira’s long-awaited return to India has been postponed, leaving thousands of fans disappointed after nearly two decades.
The Grammy-winning singer was set to perform in Mumbai on April 10–11 and Delhi on April 15 as part of her Feeding India Concerts, marking her first major performance in India since 2007. The shows, organised by District (Zomato’s events platform), were also tied to a charitable initiative focused on child nutrition, adding extra significance to the tour.
In a statement shared on Instagram, organisers cited the “prevailing geopolitical situation and regional tensions” as the reason for the postponement. They emphasised that the safety and well-being of fans, the artist, and the production team remain the top priority.
Ticket holders were assured that full refunds will be processed automatically, and organisers are working with Shakira’s team to finalise new dates.
Shakira had expressed excitement about returning to India, calling the country “a special place” and highlighting the tour’s mission to support child nutrition.
The announcement of the postponement, however, sparked an outpouring of disappointment on social media, with fans lamenting the delay after a 19-year wait but remaining hopeful for rescheduled dates.
