Zero-tolerance enforced as Lahore Police arrest 39 kite-flyers

In a decisive crackdown on dangerous kite-flying, the Cantt police arrested 39 kite enthusiasts across various parts of the city, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on the second day of Eid on Sunday.

According to the report, the operation, carried out across multiple police jurisdictions, targeted individuals engaged in kite flying and related activities. 

Arrests included suspects named Asif, Adeel, Nasir, Owais, Waqar, and Qaiser, among others. 

Many were caught in the act with kites, strings, and other materials used in the activity.

Specific areas covered in the raids included Harbanspura, Baghbanpura, and Bhatapaur, where 13 suspects were detained, while Factory Area, Defence A, South Cantonment, and Defence B saw 12 arrests. 

Additionally, Northern Cantonment, Mustafa Abad, Haier, Ghaziabad, Burki, and Defence C police arrested 14 more kite-flyers.

SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz emphasised that kite flying is a life-threatening sport and urged parents to prevent their children from participating in such hazardous activities. 

Arrested individuals have been formally charged, and investigations are ongoing. The police reiterated a strict zero-tolerance policy against kite flyers, kite makers, and kite sellers.
