Mahira Khan brutally trolled for stance on working in Bollywood in future
Popular Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has landed herself in great trouble for her seemingly ‘responsible’ and broad stance on working in Bollywood, in the future, after the latest war between India and Pakistan, which led to a ban on Pakistani artists in India.
Mahira Khan lately attended a promotional event in New York where, during the interaction, a media person inquired her about collaboration in Bollywood in future. She asked: “Where do you see yourself in the future when it comes to Bollywood? What do you think should be a direction of our Pakistani celebrities?”
While responding, Mahira took a heavy breath (a sign to express difficulty) and showed ‘neutrality,’ saying: “I think firstly we need to focus inwards. I think we need to focus on our Industries as we are not people who believe in cancel culture, and I am talking broadly. I do not believe in boycotts and bans, I don’t believe in that. Of course, the situation is such, and you feel emotional because of your attention to your own country. So, beyond that, I think instead of using such stances, I think for us it's important that we invest in Us. Let's start investing in Us.”
Mahira Khan’s abovementioned statement has provoked sentiments of people, to some extent as they started trolling her in the comment section: however, there were some who appreciated the star for sensibly addressing the situation.
“Honestly? Our actors need to understand this , Its not abt cancel culture or anything, now its abt self respect,” a fan wrote.
Another added: “She is talking bullshit trying to be neutral merely to secure more projects in India. she needs to realise that she’s nothing without Pakistan!”
A fan applauded the star by stating: “This is such a responsible statement. She addressed the situation in a broader sense and ultimately emphasized that our stars need to focus on our own industry. This is how you speak when you have influence and a platform. You don’t spew hate, you show grace and class, while also making your point. So proud of her.”
