Peshawar court sentences man to double death penalty for killing two brothers

A court in Peshawar has sentenced a man to two counts of the death penalty after convicting him of murdering two brothers in a shooting incident, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

Additional Sessions Judge Imtiaz Ali announced the verdict after concluding the trial against the accused, identified as Javed.

According to the prosecution, the father of the victims, Tariq and Kamil, had filed a complaint with Daudzai/Nahaqi Police station stating that he was standing near his home with his sons when the accused, accompanied by his wife and daughter, approached them while armed.

The complainant said an argument broke out before the accused allegedly opened fire.

The father survived the attack, while both sons suffered critical injuries and later died while being shifted to the hospital.

After examining evidence and completing the trial, the court found the main accused guilty of murder and sentenced him to death twice, along with a fine of Rs2 million payable to the heirs of the victims.

The court also sentenced the convict to three years in prison and imposed an additional fine of Rs100,000 in the attempted murder case.

According to the written judgment, the convict would face an additional one-year prison term if he failed to pay the fines.

Meanwhile, the court acquitted the two female co-accused due to insufficient evidence and lack of proof linking them to the crime.
