Shahnawaz Dahani strikes in first over in ‘dream debut’ against Bangladesh

Fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani has proved his selectors right when he struck in the very first over he bowled in his bebut match against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Monday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier announced that Shahnawaz Dahani will make his T20I debut today against Bangladesh, becoming Pakistan T20I player No 95.

Dahani was also part of the Babar-squad in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but the team management did not field him Babar-XI that played all matches.

Former skipper Sarfraz Ahmed handed over the Pakistan Cricket Team cap to Dahani on his debut match as Pakistan bowled in the third and final T20. 

PCB released a video of conversation of Dahani with his mother in which both spoke in Sindhi language. Dahani sought his mother’s blessings for his first match.

Dahani sharing his excitement for the debut match said, “I sought my mother’s blessings for the debut match. She said you will perform and win the match Inshallah.”

He said playing and representing your country at the international match was moment of pride. 

“I can’t tell you my feeling. I could not sleep whole night to play my debut match,” excited Dahani told.  

“Dream comes true. Like every other player, I too waiting anxiously to represent my country in the international match,” he added.

Dahani said that he is missing his Larkana friends, family members and people from Sindh at his first debut. 

Shahnawaz hailed from a village Dahani located near Larkana.

“I am the first player from Larkana how is representing the people of Larkana in the international match. I cannot explain in words how the people of Larkana welcomed me and showered their love when he reached the city after becoming best bowler of Pakistan Super League (PSL),” Dahani said.  

Dahani fans also congratulated and wished him good luck on his debut.

Mufaddal Sabir said: "Hope Shahnawaz Dhani will do best today :) best of luck brother! From Karachi, Pakistan"

Moin Salah said: "Dahani's dream came to reality today. Saw him performing in Multan Sultans, now has to prove his worth for Pakisan. Best of luck Dahani."

Zahid Mahmood commented: "Dhani you finally in the team now. Go and prove yourself that you are the boy Pakistan were looking for. My prayer with Malik for his son's quick recovery. "

Bilal Ahmed Khan said: "good to see such a humble lad making his debut today! I hope he makes Pakistan proud today and in the future."
