Nationwide vaccination drive against Measles, Rubella and Polio continues

The nationwide measles, rubella and polio vaccination campaign is continuing across Pakistan, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) said on Saturday.

The immunisation drive, which began on November 17, will continue until November 29.

According to NEOC officials, 35.4 million children aged between 6 months and 5 years are being vaccinated against measles and rubella, while 23.3 million children in 90 high-risk districts are being administered polio drops in the campaign.

The vaccines are being provided at government health facilities, schools, madrassas and temporary outreach centres, ensuring broad access for families nationwide.

In Punjab, more than 17.3 million children are being vaccinated against measles and rubella, while around 6.8 million are being given polio drops.

In Sindh, over 8.263 million children are receiving measles and rubella vaccines, and more than 8.4 million are being administered polio drops.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 5.988 million children are being vaccinated against measles and rubella, while about 5.246 million are getting polio drops.

Balochistan is vaccinating over 2.73 million children against measles and rubella and 2.246 million against polio.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, more than 624,000 children are being administered measles and rubella vaccines.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, over 246,000 children are receiving the same vaccinations, while 136,000 are being given polio drops.

In Islamabad, more than 225,000 children are being vaccinated against measles and rubella, and around 461,000 are receiving polio drops.

The NEOC has urged parents nationwide to ensure their children are vaccinated, stressing that immunisation is essential for protecting them from life-threatening diseases such as measles, rubella and polio.
