Rejecting the petition, seeking court orders to Islamabad Chief Commissioner Captain (r) Usman to stop working as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed parties to the case to submit their replies on the next date of the hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the hearing of the petition, the counsel for the Law Ministry submitted to the court a statement in which he tried to justify the appointment of Usman on these two posts. “As per law, a chief commissioner is CDA Board’s member and it is a member who later goes on to become the Authority chairman,” read the statement.
Concurring with the statement, the IHC said it was written in the CDA ordinance that a chief commissioner is a member of the Board, and that the federal government could appoint anybody from amongst these members a chairman, a vice chairman or an economic adviser of the CDA.
Riaz Hanif Rahi, the petitioner, said there were four defects in the ministry’s reply.
Deputy attorney general told the court that replies from the defendant, the Establishment Division and the CDA in the case were still awaited.
Later the court adjourned hearing of the case for two weeks.
