No idea who floated idea of Mission Noor, says Barrister Gohar

Saying it categorically that he had no idea who floated the idea of Mission Noor, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Monday that there was no announcement from the party platform for it, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Speaking to the media outside the Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, he said that relations between the PTI and the government could improve if he and other party leaders were allowed to meet the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, presently incarcerated in the Adiala Jail. “There are court orders in this connection,” the PTI chairman reminded, adding that if meetings were not allowed, animosities between the two sides would persist.  

He dispelled the impression that the PTI’s social media activists shaped the party’s narrative. “It is Imran, not social media, who runs the party,” he clarified. 

Barrister Gohar opined that social media was like an unbridled horse, and that nobody had control over it. 

He also refuted claims that the PTI’s narrative was anti-state. “We are in mainstream politics,” he reminded.

The PTI chairman said what the PTI talked about was the supremacy of the constitution and democracy. “The PTI founder has always said that he supports the country and the army.”

Look what, he went on to say, the party did when India attacked Pakistan. “All of us threw our weight behind the armed forces.”

Barrister Gohar welcomed the defence deal reached between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “Pakistan has always supported the kingdom. Our relations are strong,” he said, adding, “Our stance has always been that whichever thing strengthens the Muslim world, we (PTI) will support it.”
