Pak-Saudi defence agreement first step towards creation of Islamic bloc: Fazl

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday hosted a dinner for Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki in the federal capital Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Fazl said that an Islamic bloc had been part of his party’s manifesto since day one. He said the Pak-Saudi defence agreement would prove to be a starting point for the unity of the Islamic world.

He extended JUI’s heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Saudi ambassador over signing of the historic defence agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He said this agreement would deepen the brotherly relations between the two countries. He said this agreement would represent a strong pillar of collective security and the desired unity in the Muslim world.

The JUI chief said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had the potential to lead the Muslim world. He said the Pak-Saudi defence agreement was the proof that the Muslim world had shared interests. He said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, being guardian of the Two Holy Mosques, holds a high place in the hearts of all Muslims. He said that people of Pakistan consider the defence of the Haramain Sharifain as a great honour and a sacred duty. He said this agreement represents the dignity and protection of Islamic sanctities.

Fazl said this blessed era would prove to be a catalyst for close cooperation among Islamic countries and restoring the strength, unity and unity of the Islamic world. He said, “I pray to Allah Almighty to bless this blessed step. May it be the cause of the rise and renaissance of the country and the entire Islamic world.”

Responding to Fazl’s remarks, the Saudi ambassador said that he always found Maulana Fazlur Rehman concerned about the unity of the Muslim world. He said, “I congratulate the Pakistani nation on this agreement. The Muslim Ummah is a single body.”

Maulana Rashid Soomro, Maulana Saeed Yousuf, Engineer Zia-ur-Rehman, Maulana Asjad Mahmood, Senator Ahmed Khan, Senator Dilawar Khan, Noor Alam Khan, Mufti Owais Aziz, Mufti Abrar and Jalaluddin Advocate were also present.
