Two polio cops martyred in Nushki gun attack

Two police constables were martyred when unidentified armed men opened fire on personnel deployed to provide security to an anti-polio team in Nushki’s Killi Jamalabad area on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The police personnel were performing security duty during the ongoing polio vaccination drive when armed men targeted them.

The two constables, who breathed their last at the scene, were later identified as Abdul Rauf Mengal, a resident of Deedar, and Muhammad Yasir, son of Dad Muhammad Parkani.

Sources said the attackers also took away the official weapons of the martyred personnel after the incident.

The attack cast a shadow of gloom over the Jamalabad area.

While reacting to the incident, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the firing and expressed grief over the martyrdom of the two constables.

Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the martyred constables and extended condolences to their families, saying they embraced martyrdom while performing their duty.

He said “The attack on a team working to protect the future of children was a heinous and unforgivable act,” and called for retributive justice for those responsible.
