The number of active coronavirus cases in Pakistan reached 7,952 on Thursday with the addition of 742 new ones during the past 24 hours.

A total of 10,513 COVID-19 cases have so far been detected in the country. The province-wise figures show that 4,590 of these are found in Punjab, 3,373 in Sindh, 1,453 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 552 in Balochistan, 290 in Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad 204 and Azad Kashmir 51.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,337 patients have fully recovered from the infection.

As of Thursday, 2,779 patients are currently admitted in 717 hospitals across the country, out of which 60 are in a critical condition.

On the other hand, 15 more deaths were recorded during the past 24 hours after which the death toll reached 224.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tops the list with 83 deaths followed by Sindh 69, Punjab 58, Balochistan eight and three each in Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.

As the efforts to increase the testing rate are in full swing, 6,700 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours. Thus, a total of 124,549 tests have so far been conducted in the country.

Meanwhile, the ratio of local transmission is on the rise as its share reached 79 percent with those linked to foreign travel reduced to 21 percent.
