US envoy meets Naqvi to review expected US-Iran talks on Friday

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with the American charge d'affaires in Pakistan, Natalie Baker, to discuss diplomatic efforts surrounding the anticipated second round of United States-Iran negotiations in Islamabad, as well as the evolving regional situation, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

According to the channel report, during the meeting, both sides reviewed ongoing diplomatic initiatives and security preparations linked to the expected talks on Friday, as US President Donald Trump has expressed a hope in a statement today.

Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi welcomed the recent decision by Donald Trump to extend the ceasefire, describing it as a positive step towards reducing tensions.

He stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels to achieve a lasting resolution to the conflict and expressed hope that Iran would also respond with constructive measures.

The minister added that Pakistan’s leadership, including the prime minister and military authorities, was making efforts at all levels to support a peaceful outcome.

Ms Baker praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region and acknowledged Islamabad’s efforts to facilitate dialogue between the concerned parties.

The development follows a recent visit by Mohsin Naqvi to the United States embassy in Islamabad, where he held discussions with the American envoy on strengthening bilateral cooperation and ensuring robust security for the anticipated negotiations.
