The Punjab government has planned to increase transport fares by 24 percent, 24NewsHD reported on Saturday.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has constituted a committee to compile a report in three weeks.
The provincial transport minister is the head while the secretaries of transport and law are the committee members.
Meanwhile, a statement cited the CM as saying that controlling price was a priority. He blamed all problems on the previous government and vowed to provide relief to the people.
The Punjab plan to raise transport fares comes a day after the federal government approved sugar and wheat import to overcome the ‘shortfall’ of these basic commodities.
‘Nothing to worry about’
The chief minister stated: “There is nothing to worry about. Punjab is being transformed and a series of good news has started. Only the PTI government, led by Prime Minister Imran Khan, can bring about a change."
A few days ago, an eight-member government team presented a rosy picture during a media briefing about its two-year performance report.
