FCC rejects ex-KP Economic Zone Co CEO’s plea against his dismissal from service

Upholding the verdict given by the Peshawar High Court (PHC), the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Monday rejected the appeal filed by the former CEO Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Company Javed Iqbal against his removal from the job, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, heard the case.

During the hearing, counsel for the former CEO said that there was no monarchy in Pakistan that any official could be dismissed from service at will.

Addressing the lawyer, Justice Rozi Khan remarked that the way his client had been reinstated could only happen in a kingdom.

The lawyer, however, replied that his client had been reinstated on the basis of his performance.

The judge noted that the procedure to be adopted for reinstatement should have been competitive.

Justice Rizvi remarked that if Iqbal was eligible for the position of a CEO, the government would appoint him again.
