Pakistan, Hungary agree to expand educational and research cooperation

Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan, met with Hungarian Ambassador Dr. Zoltan Varga to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in education, research, and culture.

During the meeting, the Hungarian government proposed providing 400 full scholarships annually for Pakistani students. Both sides also confirmed that the issue of recognition of Hungarian engineering degrees by the Pakistan Engineering Council has been resolved.

The two countries agreed to expand collaboration in research, culture, and archaeology, with the Hungarian Ambassador expressing particular interest in studies of ancient civilizations, including Taxila, Harappa, and Mohenjo-daro.

Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar emphasized that institutional ties between the Hungary Rectors’ Conference and the Pakistan Vice Chancellors’ Forum will be further strengthened, and assured full support from HEC to help Hungary expand bilateral educational relations.
