Early repair, reconstruction of main Sialkot arteries top priority

Punjab Highways chief engineer assures exporters, SIAL management work on roads link Sialkot airport, dry port to rest of region to be carried out on war footing

Chief Engineer Punjab Highways Department, Muhammad Nadeemuddin Thursday assured Sialkot exporters that the reconstruction and repair to all dilapidated main roads, leading to Sialkot International Airport, would be carried out on war footing.

Addressing an important meeting of the management of Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) held here, Nadeemuddin pointed out that all main roads, leading to Sialkot International Airport have already completed lifespan and are now in dire need of early repair and reconstruction.

He stressed the need for making all out sincere efforts to take practical measures to facilitate people moving towards the airport.

The Punjab Highways chief engineer also directed the officials concerned to ensure repair to Sialkot-Airport Road, Sialkot Dry Port-Airport Road, Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road, Kotli Behram Sialkot-Airport-Kulluwal Road to address grievances of the commuters.

Earlier, he visited these roads along with an official team for a firsthand inspection. On the occasion, he expressed grave concern over the appalling state all these roads.

SIAL CEO Maj-Gen Muhammad Abid Aziz, Vice Chairman Muhammad Afzal Shaheen, Manager Public Relations Abdul Shakur Mirza and local senior officials of Highways Department also attended the meeting.
