Pasrur lawyers continued strike for second consecutive day on Thursday to vent off anger against “what they called” local police highhandedness by registering a case against 11 lawyers.

The protesting lawyers unanimously passed a condemnation resolution against the police. They strongly condemned the police harsh attitude and highhandedness. They demanded early cancellation of the case registered against the lawyers. The outraged lawyers also demanded early suspension and transfer of local senior police officials.

On Jan 21, 2020, the Pasrur City police had registered a case (No.27/2020) against 11 lawyers including Rana Arslan under sections 148,149,337L-II and 341 PPC for torturing, dragging and thrashing a local police constable Mustansar Hussain in front of the office of DSP at Pasrur Kutchery. “The constable was injured seriously with sticks by the lawyers,” revealed the FIR.

The police officials claimed that reason behind the incident was that Advocate Rana Arslan had helped his accused uncle to escape a police raid conducted at his house in village Ramkey, Pasuru tehsil two days ago.

Police said that the lawyers also started making video of the episode with his cellphone, when police officials snatched the cellphone and broke it as well.

Meanwhile, tension between local police and lawyers remained high as both sides are stick to their stance.
