Omicron on the march; infects 15 Services Hospital doctors in Lahore

Coronavirus vengeance is far from over as it is spreading its tentacles in Lahore. As many as 15 doctors of a government hospital in the Punjab capital were infected by the dreaded virus on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Covid-19 caseload is rapidly surging in Lahore. After affecting many judiciary members and politicians including PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, the virus has infected 15 doctors in the Services Hospital. Six doctors of the hospital’s surgical unit, five doctors of the gynecology department and four doctors of the medical ward have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
The infected doctors have immediately been isolated.
The Omicron-led fifth wave in Lahore is gaining strength as the infectivity ratio was recorded 14.4%.
The city reported 84 new Omicron cases and the total number of cases with Omicron strain has reached 821. However, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the city was recorded 1,023 on Sunday.
Karachi, which is the hard-hit city where Omicron uptick is very swift, has registered a positivity ratio of 42.3%. And 2,830 new cases were registered on Sunday.
