The Supreme Court Monday expressed indignation over the reinstating of the dismissed policemen involved in a dacoity at an ambassador’s house and sought a report from the Islamabad inspector general of police (IGP) within three weeks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A three-member SC bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), conducted the hearing.
“Why was a time-expired appeal filed against the decision to reinstate the dismissed policemen?” the Supreme Court said.
“Three employees of Islamabad police were involved in theft and robbery. They had carried out a dacoity at a diplomat’s house,” the chief justice said during the hearing of the case.
“A diplomat enjoys immunity. The looted valuables from the diplomat’s house had been recovered from the police employees,” he added.
“The three employees were dismissed without regular enquiry. When they were reinstated by the tribunal, a time-expired appeal was filed,” he remarked.
“Why didn’t the IGP conduct a regular inquiry against the accused?” he questioned.
“The IGP should be answerable on this matter,” Justice Athar Minallah.
“The three police employees are now posted in the police lines,” Deputy Attorney General Malik Javed Vance told the court.
“Everyone is in a connivance with each other in the department. The time-expired appeal was the result of that connivance,” Justice Ayesha Malik remarked.
It is to be noted here that three employees of Islamabad police including Asif Ali, Lal Shahbaz and Tariq Mehmood had been dismissed in 2017 for robbery at a diplomat’s house.
The employees had been reinstated by the Federal Service Tribunal.
