United Kingdom Parliamentarian and Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn Monday urged that privatization was the reason behind the National Health Service (NHS) should be nationalized and public instead of being private.

Jeremy Corbyn, taking to his Twitter, said: US health insurance giant, Centene, is the single largest provider of NHS primary care in England. Privatisation is the cause of — not the solution to — the NHS crisis. Stop wasting money on private contracts and start investing in a fully-public NHS instead."

Corbyn said that Privatization is not the solution for the National Health Service crisis but the actual cause behind it. He insisted that the public stops wasting money on private contracts and start investing in a national and fully public National Health Service.

Corbyn bashed the private organizations providing NHS as the Hospitals are running well over capacity. Many patients don’t get treated in wards, but in the back of ambulances or in corridors.

In December last, 54,000 people in England had to wait more than 12 hours for an emergency admission. The average wait time for an ambulance to attend a category 2 condition like a stroke or heart attack exceeded 90 minutes whereas the target is 18 minutes. There were 1,474 (20%) more excess deaths in the week ending December 30 than the 5-year average. And according to the reports, this turmoil was observed after the pandemic situation in 2020.

Even with the increase in funding since the pandemic, the UK is still trying to catchup with the situations but the privatization of a once Much-Loved national treasure of healthcare has set it back to a point from where recovery is very difficult.
