Mehwish Hayat opposes any ban on YouTube

Popular actress Mehwish Hayat firmly believes that Pakistan as a progressive state shouldn't consider the ban on social media app YouTube.
She said such apps provide checks and balances that mainstream media doesn't and freedom of speech is the basic tenet of any society.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "Really banning YouTube? What's next Twitter, FB, Netflix or even whatsapp? Freedom of speech is the basic tenet of any society. In Pakistan, social media provides checks and balances that mainstream doesn't. Progressive states should need to resorts to bans."

Earlier, the Punjab Nahi Jaungi star took to Twitter late on July 17 to laud authorities for their swift capture of a teacher in Sindh who is accused of sodomy.
"Khairpur Police takes immediate action on an incident of sodomy against two students in Thari Mirwah," Sindh Police had tweeted, with a picture of the accused.
"Registered FIR and arrested the main culprit Sarang Shar within 24hrs. IGP appreciates the efforts and announces a reward of Rs200k for the team."
Mehwish shared Sindh Police's tweet, commending them on this feat. "Well done to the Sindh Police for taking swift action and capturing this Monster," she expressed."
