PTI calls for release of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and political prisoners

Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mussarat Jamshed Cheema has urged political stakeholders to replicate the spirit of consensus demonstrated during the Senate elections to pave the way for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other party-affiliated detainees.

In a strongly-worded statement on social media platform X, Cheema said that all prisoners “of democracy” have been languishing in jail for nearly two years under what she described as unjust conditions. Drawing a pointed comparison, she remarked that those now sitting in Parliament under the PTI banner owe their positions to Imran Khan and must work towards securing his freedom.

“Those who were taken out of political obscurity by Imran Khan and elevated to national leadership positions must now repay this debt by standing up for his release,” she stated.

Cheema also raised alarm over Bushra Bibi’s deteriorating health in custody, citing repeated instances of denial of family visits and substandard prison conditions. “All basic rights of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and the rest of our political prisoners have been suspended. These atrocities are clearly aimed at breaking Imran Khan and enforcing a sham system on the people,” she alleged.

Despite the challenges, Cheema said Imran Khan remains unwavering. “He is looking towards his party and the nation. Insha Allah, this nation will not disappoint him,” she said.
