Britain’s Lord Tariq Ahmad holds talks with Punjab governor, CM

United Kingdom Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth and Development Affairs (South Asia, Commonwealth, UN) Lord Tariq Ahmad called on Punjab CM Usman Buzdar and Punjab Governor Muhamad Sarwar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet, Lord Tariq Ahmad said, “Our relationship with the province of Punjab shows the best of our strong people to people links and our long-standing development partnership, including health and education.”

Lord Tariq is also the envoy for Preventing Sexual Violence & Minister Human Rights. He said, “Good to have the opportunity to discuss progress with (Punjab CM) Usman Buzdar and (Punjab Governor) Muhamad Sarwar.”

Lord Tariq Ahmed and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan appreciated Pakistan's role in bringing peace to the region. 

Lord Tariq said there would be an increase in bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK and Pakistan is close to his heart and he wanted the best for Pakistan. He vowed to play the UK’s role in the development of Pakistan. 

Punjab Governor Chaudhary Sarwar said that Pakistani forces and people sacrifices against terrorism are matchless and Pakistan stands for peace under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He urged Britain to play its part in resolving the Kashmir issue and the Palestinian issue.

Chaudhary Sarwar lauded the British support to Pakistan in areas including education and health.

On Tuesday, Lord Tariq tweeted, “We are working with the Punjab government to provide training for cleaner brick production technology, which will reduce emissions and smog in Punjab. This new Brick Kiln Programme shows the best of #UKPakDosti and joint progress towards tackling climate change.”

the UK’s Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth reached Pakistan on June 22. Lord Tariq tweeted, “Salaam Pakistan. Looking forward to my visit - a country with special people to people ties with the UK - to discuss how UK-Pakistan cooperation on climate change, girls’ education and trade reforms is making a difference on the ground #UKPakDosti.”
