Punjab to deploy fog cannons in major cities during Muharram to beat heat

The Punjab government has decided to deploy fog cannons in major districts across the province during Muharram-ul-Haram to provide relief to mourners from extreme heat and dusty conditions, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

According to official sources, a total of 15 fog cannons will be used to help lower temperatures along procession routes and at key gathering points.

Lahore will receive four fog cannons, which will be installed at various procession routes.

One fog cannon each will be deployed in Multan, Jhang, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi.

In addition, fog cannons will also be provided in Sargodha, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan to facilitate participants during Muharram observances.

Officials said water-sprinkling operations will be carried out along procession routes to reduce ambient temperatures.
