Relief package: PM Khan approves Rs 3,000 each for 7 million daily wagers

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday approved financial relief package for daily wagers in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
The PM took this decision while presiding over a meeting of his financial team. The prime minister okayed Rs 3,000 each for seven million daily wagers. He also approved Rs 200 billion for exporters.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will also announce a relief package for the construction industry tomorrow.
In a tweet, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar said: “The economic team is finalising an economic relief and stimulus package that shall be announced tomorrow.”
The PTI MNA said: “PM office, members of cabinet and government officers in multiple divisions have worked tirelessly over the past days to work out proposals and take decisions.”

In another tweet, Hammad Azhar said: “The objectives of the Economic Relief and Stimulus package is to provide relief to vulnerable segments, to prevent job losses, encourage smooth supply of essential goods at reasonable prices, support businesses and stimulate the economy.”

The Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments already decided to provide ration bags to the needy people of the coronavirus-hit provinces during the lockdown.
On March 19, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took the decision to distribute ration bags, with the help of Corps-5, Rangers, and NGOs during a meeting at the Chief Minister House. CM Shah, alongside Corps Commander Karachi Lt Gen Humayun Aziz, also announced the constitution of a committee under Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani.
