Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri has said that the final decision of Shawwal moon sighting and Eidul Fitr will be taken by the ulema, adding that Minister of Science Fawad Chaudhry was his good friend who relies on evidence and science.

He said as per the Islamic Shariat the decision of Eid will only be taken by Central Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee in its meeting due to be held in Karachi Saturday night.

According to the decision of the Central Rout-e-Hilal Committee, the people and government of Pakistan will celebrate Eid, the minister said.

“Shariat and religion rely on the evidences of sighting of the moon,” he added.

However he said science and modern tools can be used for evidence and vision, as representative of the Ministry of Science -and Technology was also included in the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee this year.
