Ch Nisar says election boycott will be ‘big political mistake’
Confirms he will take oath as MPA on Monday
Disgruntled PML-N leader and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan finally broke the silence and announced to take oath as Punjab Assembly member on May 24 (Monday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PA Secretariat has issued eight entry passes in connection with the oath-taking of Ch Nisar Ali Khan. It means, eight guests are allowed with Ch Nisar to witness his oath-taking.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Ch Nisar said, “There is no change in my stance and narrative and I will not take any benefits including salary and TADA as an MPA.”
Nisar clarified neither he nor his spokesperson gave any statement in the last few days. “I decided to take the oath after consultations,” he added.
Nisar had contested the 2018 general elections from two national and two provincial assembly seats, losing all but from the PA-10 constituency.
It may be mentioned here that a petition was filed in the court pleading to direct the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to denotify Nisar for his failure to take the oath, and also order the federal and Punjab governments to amend the relevant laws and introduce a timeframe for lawmakers-elect to take their oath.
The petitioner said that Nisar’s decision not to take the oath was a violation of the law.
