Iran says open to 'more inspections' of its nuclear sites

"We are confident in the peaceful nature of our nuclear programme, so we have no problem in principle with more inspections and more transparency," Abbas Araghchi said on state television, adding that "if Iran wanted to go for nuclear weapons, it would have done so by now."

Earlier, Iran's top diplomat said on the eve of a new round of talks with the United States on his country's nuclear programme that deep divisions remained between the two sides.

"There are still fundamental differences between us," Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on state television, warning "we will not have an agreement at all" if the United States wants to prevent Iran from enriching uranium.
