Power tariff cut by 30% for industry, Senate told
Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari on Friday chaired a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Energy, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to the report, recent developments in the energy sector came under discussion at the meeting.
Leghari said he met Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and discussed the energy sector developments with him.
He said that provinces owe the federation Rs161 billion under the head of arrears. He said that losses are in decline after formation of the DISCOs board. He said that a Rs140 billion decrease in losses was reported until March this year.
Leghari said that three DISCOs will be privatized for three years in the first phase. Junko's Old House has been sold.
Leghari said “we have decreased the power tariff by 30% for the industry”.
