Field Marshal Asim Munir concludes Iran visit after key meetings with top leadership

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir concluded a short but highly productive official visit to Iran amid ongoing regional tensions following the ceasefire of April 8, 2026.

During the visit, the Field Marshal held high-level engagements with the Iranian leadership as part of the ongoing mediation efforts aimed at promoting de-escalation and constructive engagement in the region.

According to the statement, Field Marshal Asim Munir called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The discussions remained focused on expediting the consultative process underway to support peace and stability in the region and to reach a conclusive agreement.

The engagements were held in a positive and constructive environment and contributed meaningfully towards the mediation process. The statement added that intensive negotiations over the last twenty-four hours resulted in encouraging progress towards a final understanding.

The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s sincere and constructive role in facilitating dialogue and promoting the peaceful settlement of regional issues.

Upon arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior civil and military officials.
