Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said Pak Army had decided after much deliberation last year that it will not interfere in political matters.
The Army Chief delivered his last speech to the Defence and Martyrs’ Day ceremony at GHQ in Rawalpindi on Wednesday and said criticizing the army is the right of the people and political parties.
But, General Bajwa said those who create a rift between the army and the people will always fail. 
He said the attitude of ‘not agreeing’ with everything should be given up as losing and winning is a part of politics.
He clarified the historical event of the East Pakistan Tragedy (known as ‘Fall of Dhaka’) was not a military but a political failure. 

He said that he is proud to have been commander to the Pak-Army for six years and this is his last speech as Army Chief.

Criticism on the army is a right of the general public and the political parties, but the ones trying to create differences between the people and the army will never succeed.

I want to move forward by condoning and forgiving the aggressive and unruly attitude towards the army, said General Bajwa.

He said Pakistan today is suffering from serious economic problems.

Last year, the army after much deliberation decided that it will not interfere in the politics matters in the future.

General Bajwa said the politicians should avoid the attitude of denial mode as winning and losing is a part of politics.

The army chief further said: “I want to correct some facts related to 1971. The tragedy of East Pakistan was not a military but a political failure. Pakistan Army fought bravely in 1971 war and made unparalleled sacrifices. The Indian Army Chief also acknowledged the bravery of the Pakistan Army. The sacrifices of these soldiers have not been acknowledged by the nation to date, which is a great abuse. The Pakistan Army will never neglect the battle against Terrorism.”
