Former cricket umpire Khizar Hayat passes away

Former international cricket umpire Khizar Hayat died in Lahore on Sunday. He was 86, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that Hayat had been ill for some time.

The former umpire also played first class cricket for Pakistan Railways.

Hayat, who joined umpiring in 70s, stood as an umpire in test, one-day and domestic matches.

He supervised 34 test, 57 one-day internationals and three world cup matches.

After retirement, Hayat also remained associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expresses grief

Expressing grief over the passing of the former umpire, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Naqvi has offered his condolences to the bereaved family.

Paying rich tributes to the deceased in his message, he said that the entire world acknowledged the decisions given by Hayat during the matches.

PCB chairman said that the services rendered by Hayat would be remembered forever.
