Pakistan win IBSF Snooker World Cup Team Championship

Pakistan clinched the IBSF Snooker World Cup Team Championship on Sunday after staging a thrilling comeback to defeat Hong Kong China 2 by 3–2 in a best-of-five frames final, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

The Pakistani duo of former world champion Muhammad Asif and Asjad Iqbal produced two brilliant century breaks in the deciding stages of the match to secure the title.

Hong Kong’s team featured Chau Hon Man and Nansen Wan.

Hong Kong struck first as Chau Hon Man defeated Iqbal 94–0, aided by an 85 break, putting Pakistan under early pressure.

Pakistan responded in the second singles frame, with Asif scoring 82 runs to beat Nansen Wan 95–17, leveling the match.

Hong Kong regained the lead in the doubles frame 84–41, moving ahead 2–1 and putting Pakistan on the brink of defeat.

The tide turned in the reverse singles.

Asif delivered a 100 break, defeating Chau Hon Man 100–36 to tie the match 2–2.

 In the deciding frame, Asjad Iqbal rose to the occasion with a 104 break, overpowering Nansen Wan 104–0 to complete Pakistan’s remarkable comeback.

The frame scores were: 0–94 (85), 95–17 (82), 41–84, 100–36 (100), 104–0 (104).
