Saim Ayub becomes 9th Pakistani to cross 1,000 T20I runs
Pakistan’s opening batter Saim Ayub reached a major career milestone on Saturday, becoming the ninth Pakistani player to score 1,000 runs in T20I during the tri-series match against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Saim arrived at the crease with 983 runs in 50 innings and completed the landmark in the fifth over of Pakistan’s innings with a well-timed drive off Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka.
With this achievement, Saim joins an elite group of Pakistan batters who have crossed the 1,000-run mark in T20Is, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and Shahid Afridi.
The young left-hander continues to establish himself as a key member of Pakistan’s T20 setup with consistent performances at the top of the order.
