Rauf Hassan was appointed special assistant to the prime minister on information and broadcasting on Friday. 

The post had been vacant for a few weeks as Lieutenant General (Retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa had resigned amid allegations of assets beyond means and abuse of power. 

Rauf Hassan is the brother of Fawad Hassan Fawad, principal secretary to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. 

The Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard. However, this designation would be just honorary.
