Pakistan withdraws from Junior Hockey World Cup in India

Pakistan has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India, citing concerns over the current conditions.

According to details, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has informed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) of its decision not to send the national junior team to India for the tournament.

PHF Secretary Rana Mujahid confirmed the development, stating that Pakistan had proposed the option of holding its matches at a neutral venue, but the request could not be accommodated.

“It is not at all appropriate to go and play in India under these conditions,” Mujahid said, emphasising the federation’s stance on maintaining player security and national dignity.

The decision marks another setback for Pakistan hockey, which has been striving to regain its former international stature. The withdrawal also means Pakistan will miss a key opportunity to showcase its young talent on the global stage.
