Punjab govt approaches Centre for Rs2.77 per unit cut in power tariff

Just like the federal government, the government of Punjab has also started taking steps for a reduction in electricity prices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that the provincial government had approached the federal government for Rs2.77 per unit cut in power tariff, which would save consumers Rs27 billion.

They informed that the provincial government would enter into an agreement with the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) for the purpose.

A summary had already been sent to the CPPA, sources added.

They explained that courtesy that agreement, electricity generated by the Punjab government-controlled Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Plant would be supplied at cheaper rates.
