The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of federal cabinet approved the import of 50,000 metric ton of sugar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel quoting sources.  

A tender notice will be issued to import the sugar. The ECC also directed sugar mills to start crushing sugarcane by the first week of November.

The ECC meeting also gave approval to Kamyab Jawan Programme and 10 percent profit on the shares of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). 

Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen chaired the ECC meeting on Thursday.
