The crime rate in Punjab has witnessed a sharp increase with approximately 25 abduction cases, 11 murders, nine rape cases and three child abuse cases are being reported on daily basis, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

The trend in rising in crime cases is alarming considering the fact that Punjab Police are enjoying a budget worth Rs1.25b.

The official data released by the Punjab Police has also refuted tall claims made by Usman Buzdar-led Punjab government as child abuse, women rape and adult abduction cases against men, women and children are increasing with every passing day.

Despite all the facilities and the budget, Punjab Police are not performing up to the mark and protecting the lives and properties of the people. Punjab Police always geared up after a tragedy or series of tragic incidents but after that, it will always be business as usual in the province. 

The TV channel quoted 2018 Zainab murder case in Kasur in which innocent Zainab was raped and murdered. Punjab Police also pulled up their socks on the tragic incident that shook the whole nation but after that, they resumed their normal routine to counter and combat the crime in the province.
