Pakistan now has just over 10,000 active coronavirus cases
Amid a sustained trend of decrease in the new coronavirus cases in the country, the virus was found in another 496 people during the last 24 hours, shows the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Monday morning.
With the addition of these latest cases, the overall number of the coronavirus infection recorded in the country has now reached 293,261.
The same period saw nine more people dying after contracting the virus, raising the death toll to 6,244.
On the other hand, 276,829 people have so far fully recovered from the infection in Pakistan. That’s why the number of active cases is on a decline during the past month or so as the coronavirus spread has also been contained effectively.
Currently, 10,188 people are either under treatment in hospitals or have been isolated at their homes. However, 686 of them are in a critical condition and receiving treatment in the intensive care units of different health facilities.
These figures mean that a total of 283,073 coronavirus cases have closed [deaths + recoveries] in the country.
Meanwhile, 23,655 people were tested for the virus during the past 24 hours which means the overall number of tests conducted since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the country has increased to 2,463,513.
As far as the region-wise distribution of the coronavirus cases is concerned, Sindh continues, unfortunately, to top the list after officially reporting 128,284 infection.
The similar figures for other provinces/regions are: Punjab 96,233, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,766, Islamabad 15,515, Balochistan 12,527, Gilgit-Baltistan 2,682 and Azad Kashmir 2,254.
