High-level flood in Sutlej River hits Kasur villages

High-level flood in the Sutlej River started wreaking havoc on Sunday night after gushing floodwater swept away a part of the dyke near Walewala village, 24NewsHD TV reported.

As a result, the water of the Sutlej River entered homes and fields and destroyed crops on hundreds of acres. The corn, rice and millet crops have started to be affected by the flood water. Now Rasoolpur and other villages are also threatened by the floodwater.

The water of the Sutlej River started to move towards the rural settlements and first hit houses on the river banks. Local authorities evacuated several people from these villages shifted them to safer places.

As the district administration launched rescue and relief activities, Rescue 1122 and Pakistan Army teams also reached the affected areas. Floodwater also cut off dozens of villages from the mainland.
