Inside Travis Kelce’s heartfelt love letter to Taylor Swift before Final Eras Tour shows

American professional footballer Travis Kelce penned an intensely romantic letter to his fiancée Taylor Swift ahead of the final leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour, with the emotional note revealed in the closing episodes of her Disney+ documentary series The End of an Era.

The newly released final two episodes, which dropped on Tuesday, follow the 36-year-old singer as she prepares to take the Eras Tour to Canada.

In one particularly intimate moment from episode five, Swift is shown in her dressing room before a Toronto show when she is surprised with a handwritten note from the NFL star.

Swift and Kelce first crossed paths in 2023 after he attended one of her concerts in Kansas City and famously made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.

Their teams later helped arrange a date, marking the beginning of a relationship that culminated in their engagement this August.

Kelce’s message reflects on the origins of their love story and the emotional significance of the tour, reading:

"There are so many unbelievable memories on this tour but my favourite one is seeing you in concert for the first time - being mesmerised by a woman who doesn't even know me yet. Thank you to Robert (from Taylor's tour management team) for making you stop through Kansas City. That night in KC was the beginning of me meeting the love of my life..."

The Eras Tour itself was historic in scale, spanning 149 shows across five continents. It wrapped up in December 2024 and became the first tour in history to gross more than $2 billion, securing its place as the highest-grossing tour of all time.

The letter’s reveal follows emotional moments earlier in the docuseries, particularly in episode four, where Swift opened up about heartbreak during the tour and credited both her mother and Kelce with helping her through one of the toughest periods of her life.

She admitted that while the global tour, which ran from March 2023 to December 2024, gave her stability, her personal life was unraveling behind the scenes.

"There were points in this tour when the tour was really the only thing that was really keeping me going in my life," she said.

She went on to explain that it wasn’t the demands of performing that weighed on her, adding: "But there were never points in the tour where I thought, 'Oh, you know what? I want to quit the tour 'cause the tour's hard.' No, my personal life was hard," before revealing, "I went through two breakups on the first half of this tour, and that's a lot of breakups actually."

Viewers quickly interpreted the comments as references to her split from longtime partner Joe Alwyn, 34, after more than six years together, as well as her brief romance with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. Swift underscored the moment with a sharp sense of humour, quipping: "Men will let you down, the Eras Tour never will."

Emphasising just how vital the tour became to her wellbeing, Swift added: "The show was what gave me purpose and was what I could use to get me out of bed.

"So, the tour has never been the hard thing in my life.

"The tour has been the thing that has allowed me to find purpose outside of the s*** that was going wrong in my life."

She also shared that working on her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, played a crucial role in helping her process the emotional fallout from that period.

"Tortured Poets album is like this purge of… just, like, everything, everything bad that I felt for two years. It was a really rough time in my life, so the songs reflect that.

"Feeling like I'm not a person, I'm just this like big conglomerate that no one sees as a real human being and like especially not men that I date.

"And in the whole process just being like… nothing, nothing works. There's no one for me in the world."

Despite the heartbreak, the tour unexpectedly paved the way for her relationship with Kelce. In the series, Swift recounts how her mother, Andrea Swift, 67, first became aware of him after seeing headlines about his New Heights podcast, where he revealed he had hoped to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it.

Andrea then contacted a cousin described as the family’s 'resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs,' who reassured her that Kelce was 'the nicest guy' and deeply devoted to his mother. That endorsement set Andrea’s matchmaking instincts into motion.

Recalling the moment, Swift said: "So, you call me up with this tone of like, 'Hey so I know you're not going to react well to this. But there's a guy…,'' before her mother interjected: "He's really cute."

Swift added: "You said something to the effect of like you gotta start doing something different."

She closed the episode with a laugh, reflecting on how unexpected the relationship had been: "If you ever would have ever told me that the most meaningful relationship I would ever have would start with a man saying he was 'butt hurt' that I didn't want to meet him, unbelievable."

The couple made their relationship public in September 2023 and announced their engagement in August 2024.
