PM&DC announces results of national registration exam for Foreign Medical Graduates
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced the results of the National Registration Examination Step One for Foreign Medical Graduates on Wednesday which was conducted on December 14, 2025, under the management of the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
As per the policy of PM&DC, all the basic stages of the National Registration Examination, including paper preparation, preparation of results and final declaration, were entrusted to NUMS.
According to the data, a total of 7,076 candidates registered, including 6,993 medical and 83 dental candidates. 7,012 candidates appeared for the exam, while 64 candidates remained absent.
A total of 1,473 candidates, including 1,467 medical and 6 dental candidates, passed the exam. The success rate of medical candidates was 21.17 percent while the success rate of dental candidates was 7.23 percent.
As per the PM&DC Act, the National Registration Examination (NRE) is mandatory for foreign medical graduates to be conducted twice a year. Earlier, 5,035 candidates registered for the NRE held on June 25, 2025. Out of which 4,994 candidates appeared for the exam. 1,252 candidates passed the exam, while 41 candidates were absent. The success rate of medical candidates in this stage was 25.26 percent.
According to the PM&DC, the results of the recent examination have been uploaded on the council's official website, where every candidate can see the details of pass or fail through their roll number.
The dates for National Registration Examination Step-II (Clinical Examination) will be announced soon. Candidates who pass both the stages will be issued provisional registration certificates by PM&DC for house jobs within the country or abroad.
PM&DC has clarified that the results are compiled strictly on merit, quality policy and international norms. Furthermore, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has advised parents and students to choose only recognized and quality institutions while pursuing medical or dental education abroad.
