Qalandars’ open hockey trials in Lahore postponed

The open hockey trials, that were scheduled to be held on 11:00 AM by Lahore Qalandars in Lahore’s National Hockey Stadium today, have been postponed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The trials were set to be held under the auspices of Pakistan Hockey Federation in collaboration with Punjab Sports Board.

According to Pakistan Hockey Federation, the trials were postponed due to the security reasons of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.

New dates for the hockey trials will be announced soon.

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars were set to conduct open hockey trials in National Hockey Stadium, Lahore on Friday at 11:00 AM as part of their hockey development programme.

The programme had been launched by the Lahore Qalandars franchise for the promotion of hockey in Pakistan.

Initially, the entire squad of Lahore Qalandars, led by captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, had visited Karachi Hockey Association Sports Complex on February 17 last to hunt new talent for the national sport.

Lahore Qalandars, from their official Twitter handle, announced that the team of Shaheen Shah Afridi had been completed, adding that it was Harif Rauf’s turn then.

Former hockey Olympians had also expressed their admiration over the initiative by Lahore Qalandars.
