Fire destroys 200 acres of forests near Head Balloki
A massive fire erupted in the forests of Head Balloki near Lahore for the fourth time which turned 200 acres of green land into ashes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The cause of the blaze could not be immediately ascertained.
Soon after receiving the report, Rescue 1122 immediately reached the spot and brought the fire under control after hectic efforts of three and a half hours.
The Department of Forests said that due to the fire the forests which are spread on an area of 1,053 acres of land, more than 150 acres of forests was destroyed.
Residents of the area said that the eruption of fire for the fourth time was not a routine happening. They said that the forests were being destroyed willfully.
They demanded the relevant authorities to conduct a transparent inquiry into the incident and all those officials who were performing their duties in the forests should be quizzed.
