Man tortures, poisons wife to death in Hafizabad

A man killed his wife by brutally torturing her and then forced her to consume poison in Hafizabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

In her statement she gave to police before her death at a local hospital, the woman accused her husband of physically torturing her with a club the whole night. 

She further said that a dispute erupted between them after exchange of harsh words.

Police registered a first information report (FIR) on behalf of victim’s brother at a police station in Hafizabad.

Further investigation was underway.

Earlier, in January 2025, body of a female lawyer, Advocate Saira, who went missing several days ago from Lahore's Nawab Town area, was recovered from a canal in Hafizabad.

Police said the deceased was found inside a sack, complicating initial identification efforts. Advocate Saira had been reported missing by her sister, Ayesha, who filed an FIR at the Nawab Town Police Station shortly after her disappearance.

The Hafizabad police registered an FIR and conducted the necessary formalities before arranging the burial of the body.

Advocate Saira had reportedly married a man named Bilal a few months ago.
