PTI leaders say they stand by people of Sindh on water issue

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja on Monday said there was no gainsaying the fact that the people of Sindh were confronted with the issue of water shortage and that the party would not allow anybody to deprive them of their share in the country’s water resources, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad with Tehreek Tahafuz Ayin-e-Pakistan (TTAP) leaders sitting alongside him, he said that PTI was the country’s most popular party as it had roots in all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. 

He said today Pakistanis found themselves in a situation that had never come before. “The purpose of forming the TTAP was to get people their constitutional rights,” he said, and added that the PTI won all seats from Hyderabad, but the mandate was stolen from it. “Some people are making decisions about the nation’s fate behind closed doors.” 

Raja further said that the PTI stood by the people of Balochistan whose near and dear ones had been whisked away by the government. “This is no more a Balochistan-specific problem as these days people are being kidnapped in Punjab too.”

PTI secretary general rubbished claims that former prime minister and the party founder Imran Khan was dying to strike a deal with the establishment, saying it was Nawaz Sharif, not Imran, who first fled to Saudi Arabia and then to the UK after signing deals with those who were in the corridors of power.

He said it was quite disturbing that the masses were not listened to while taking decisions on national issues. “I appeal to the people to stand up against this despotism.”  

Speaking on the occasion, former National Assembly (NA) speaker and PTI stalwart Asad Qaiser said the issue of water shortage in Sindh was a reality.

He accused the PPP, which was in power in the province, and was a partner of the PML-N at Center, of not doing anything on this front. 

He further said there was lawlessness in Sindh. “I appeal to those who call the shots to think about Pakistan. The country’s security is in jeopardy.”
