Advisor to Prime Minister on Accountability & Interior Mirza Shehzad Akbar has tendered his resignation from both portfolios, reported 24NEwsHD TV channel.
He announced his decision in a tweet.
Shehzad Akbar tweeted, “I have tendered my resignation today to the PM as Advisor.”

The former advisor said he sincerely hopes the process of accountability continues under leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan as per Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI’s manifesto.
“I will remain associated with the party and keep contributing as a member of the legal fraternity,” he said.
Pertinent to note that Mirza Shazad Akbar served for one year and six months as accountability aide for the premier. He was appointed as the special assistant to the prime minister on accountability and interior in August 2018.In July 2020, Akbar was appointed as an adviser to the prime minister with the same portfolio.
Sources said that advocate Azhar Saddique name has been under review for the appointment as the next aide on accountability.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Akbar worked under "tremendous pressure". "It was never easy to take on mafias, but the way you worked and handled cases is admirable. More important work is now awaiting you," he said.
